Width of Favorites Bar

I use Win 7.
My Favorites Bar list overflows to a band down the right side of the screen, which is fine. But the width of that band (along the right side) recently increased to about 5 inches, which I don't need or like. I can I adjust the width of this bar?

I will appreciate help.

I do indeed use IE8.
I happen to put a lot of items on the Favorite Bar, to the point where their length exceeds the width of the bar. The overflow go into a dropdown box along the extreme right siode of the screen, only acticated by clicking on two small arrows (i.e. <<) at the extreme right end of the Favorites Bar.

(In looking at my wife's similarly equipped computer, her Favorites Bar is not full, and the two small arrows are not present; apparently they appear when the Bar is full to overflow.)

When I first installed Win7, a few weeks ago, that dropdown box was about 2 inches wide. For some reason, it suddenly became about 5 inches wide last week. No titles in the box are anywhere near that long. Everything works fine, it's just annoying that this happened, and also annoying that I don't know how to put it back as it was.

I can't send a picture. When I have the dropdown box open and try to engage Snagit, the dropdown window closes.

Any help with this problem is very much appreciated!

The arrows you describe (<->) do not appear when I float my cursor over the edges.

 

Hi Halo,

I scrolled again to the extreme bottom of that dropdown box, and DID find a title that wide! (Blush!!)

So, problem solved.

I would like to add that Major Geeks has been a tremendous asset over the past few years, and it is a site I know I can count on.
