wierd computer problems

hello

my computer used to be an emachine with an athlon 64 3200+ 2.00 build in video card ati x200 with 512 ram a 300 watt power suply and an ati motherboard. i replaced the graphics card with an x700 and it wasn't running the best. so i bought a new graphcis card the ati x850 xt ssaphhfire version 256 and
it didn't run any better. then i replaced the ram with a gig of corsair sticks they were xms eddition. my computer ran a lot better didn't lag much. then i noticed that i need to get a better powersuplly and i thought i would get a case to. i got a antec neo somthing 550 att powersuplly. its quiet and very good. i also got another gig of ram. not mch of a difference at all. on counterstrike sourcce my fps gets to 100 but also 20 and shit. call of duty 2 lags a bit and postal 2??
guild wars works great. do i need a new motherboard and procceser?? what do u think . i dont think my computer should be running this bad.

 

You may as well buy the mobo and cpu... Your already 80% into a new one as it is.

 

The lag you get is probably from the servers and there isn't much you can do about that.

Also, when's the last time you scanned for spyware?

 

what is your cod2 fps? a setting in the vid options should be to kept at dirext x 7, not on dx9.

 

Why do you say that? He has a Radeon x850xt, that can handle dx9 better than my card and I never have problems using the dx9 renderer.

 

would the bios have somthing to do with the lag. becuase on sandra it says that my driver control should ber higher for somthing like that.

 

ive only heard that to get the best performance, use dx7, but try it out and see

 

using dx7 will kill visual quality, and with a 850xt, 2 gigs of ram and a good proc hw should run it full no problem. I agree with that other dude, just get a new mobo, they arent that much and you pretty much have a new system anyway.
