My Dad went through brain surgery and we were scared -but he came through. The doctors knew what they were doing and he was up the next day asking for a cigarette -so take some solace in my experience: modern medicine is beyond belief.
His need for surgery was due to a tumour and while the surgery, itself, went perfectly: he succomed to the cancer two and a half months later.
What you need to take from this post is that surgeons can easily bring someone through even brain surgeory.
My thoughts are with you and your wife.
    Yours,
    522.

UPDATE,,,I am sorry for the delay in updating this thread. I have been by wifes side through the last few days,,after speaking with the DR on call the evening of our setback,,I spoke to the Surgen Himself. The directions were to have my wife lay down flat for 48 HR's to reduce the amount of pressure against the PATCH he mended,,,to have a chance to bond and grow to the new sourounding tissue that it is stiched to. The result has so far proven to work,,after the 2 days of being flat on back,,,the dripping of fluid has stopped. Thanks G-d and all prayers, and the skilled professionals,,,We have a follow up with the Surgen 10am Tomorrow, to remove the packing from her nasal passage. This should make my wife more comfortable. and also will let the natual dranage to occur more easily, and the healing process will continue, I will update this thread after the office visit tomorrw, Thanks for all the prayers, comforting words of encouragement, and just for being the wonderfull people you are, and just for being there in ones need, Glenn and Family

That definitely sounds like better news. We'll continue to pray. I would love to see this be the solution and her not have to go back in for another surgery.

Hope you're all getting the rest you need. With a stressful situation like this (not to mention recovering from the hurricanes!) you could easily get sick yourself. Hang in there Glenn.

Whew! Sounding better Glenn. I'm sure you'll rest easier after the surgeon looks at it tomorrow too. Still hoping & praying for the best.

What's the likelihood of taste & smell coming back to normal? Those sound trivial, and are a WHOLE lot better than nothing, but they are important.
