Wifi Not In Tray, Rollback Driver Is Greyed Out, Etc

Hello,

Ready to pull thy hair out Yes, I've tried everything I have found online to fix WiFi issues for my Lenovo Flex 3 - 1480 laptop - i5 processor with Windows 10.

The WiFi icon is missing from the tray. The rollback driver option for the Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165 is greyed out.

I even did a system reset, twice. No joy. On the first reset I uninstalled the driver, only to have it completely disappear, which is why I did another system reset.

I can see the driver in Device Manager when I hit "Show Hidden Devices".

It acts like it updates the driver but I keep getting "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45) To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer."

The only way I am able to get internet access is by tethering my phone via "Network".

My sanity is in jeopardy. Help!

 

And, there is no on/off physical switch, unfortunately.

F7 is airplane mode which disables all wireless functions. Could that have been pressed?

 

No, not airplane mode.

I looked on Intel's site, more than a few times and I never saw the link for my specific adapter. And, I do not see it on the link you provided. I see nothing that specifies the Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165.

Well I found the correct software and drivers for Win 10 for the Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165.
And this is what it says about that download 'This download is valid for Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165'.
So I suggest you look again at THIS page:

And so if you have not done a clean uninstall and restart of your system, and then fresh reinstall of the correct software and drivers , you are not doing the first and most obvious troubleshooting step.
