I haven't seen anything on this subject. I thought I would just set the restore the system to before I had the problem. Will this fix any problems (specifically safetydefender.com)?

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

If you are really sure of when the problem began, this may stop the immediately visible problems but it will not remove the bad files from your PC. Also you could be restoring to a point in time that had other problems (this applies to some people). Also don't forget that you loose anything you installed/configure between the restore date and the current date ..... even good stuff.

Safetydefender is very easy to fix. We even have a sticky thread procedure on it. See: www.safetydefender.com - removal

Thanks for the response. I knew exactly when the problems started -- my wife downloaded some Wheel of Fortune game that introduced the spyware. I turned back the clock and it fixed the problem. I have now gone through the steps to ensure it doesn't happen again...
