Will a Wireless Router work with DSL?

Total n00b question.

I have a Linksys wireless router (with 4 port switch) and cable internet, and I was wondering if it would work with DSL.
Right now I've got a cable modem that goes into the router. Is it as easy as plugging the DSL modem into the router instead?

Yes, hooks up the exact same way, the only difference is your modem.

 

They are hooked in the same way, however the Router has to be configured differently then a Cable internet connection.

For most dsl isp's they use pppoe, but some just use pppoa which requires no auth, i remember we had a guy call trying to setup his router using auth once, but at the dsl isp i work we use no auth (pppoa) and the guy kept argueing with me about it not working, i finally convinced the guy it was because we don't require auth and told him to set the modem to dhcp, bam it works, your best bet is to call your isp and confirm that you will need the pppoe option.

If it is PPPOE then, Huey you may need to get into the router page and change the settings. A standard default would be Cable Modem, but if you use DSL or ADSL then you need change that Cable Modem to PPPOE in the router page . !
