    Hi

What service pack is your XP at?
What make and model PC is this?

In Device Manager you have no yellow ! marks by any devices? if so what are they?

If you have any 3rd party firewall software installed disable it to test connection.
    • If you plug in the PC to the router via ethernet do you get internet access?
    • If this is a laptop do you have an enable/disable Wifi button?
    • Open Services from the Administration Tools in Control Panel and make sure that Wireless Zero Configuration service is set to Started and its startup type is Automatic.

Have you hard wired it to the modem? It should then give you an IP address. Once you have obtained that, you should be able to find your router.

I am sure that you checked this but, is your network discoverable? If you set it up where the router won't broadcast the SSID you won't be able to find it, you will have to manually add it through the add a network, and it will ask you to put in the network name first so it can connect to get the security information.

Fantastic idea! I wouldn't have thought that the SSID isn't being broadcast but that makes a lot of sense.
