    ok here was my original problem------>

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/vb/showthread.php?threadid=20636

    I bought another harddrive and did a fresh install of Win XP pro using my Recovery CD-Rom aka Windows XP Professional System CD this did a great job with a fresh install but now it will only boot up with this cd in the drive

    in startup it says----->
    Verifying DMI Pool...........
    Boot from Atapi CD-Rom
    press any key to boot from cd

    I dont press anything but without this cd in the drive it will not boot and goes to a load system failure, please insert boot disc and press enter

    any help on how to load normally?

    Also now that I can put my other harddrive in slave position to scan it for virus is there a right or wrong way to do this?

    p.s. After fresh Install the 1st thing I installed was Norton anti-virus this was all done b4 connecting to internet as soon as i restarted when connected to internet up popped 2 viruses
    w32.mblast.worm & w32.welchia.worm thank god for norton

    YEP ( as the others have said ) enter BIOS an set boot order to 1st boot HDD

    NO... just make sure your AV is set to scan your 2nd HD so a typical scan may look like this.........

    Scan
    A:
    C:
    D:
    E:
    etc etc
