Couple more years and he'll be gone anyway. I think the Democrats are coming back in a big way. I don't think the Republican scare tactics will work this time.

    Me?? Sarcastic??? Never :)

I guess living in liberal-hippy-fetish Eugene (and Mankind will second the truth of that statement), I've had enough flip-flop policy to last a lifetime. Having said that, I was Republican long before I ever made it to the US ;)

I can only judge on the policies put forward by the party I have no notion of what it means to be a republican or democrat, one policy which alone which lead me to dislike bush and the republicans was using the billions Clinton had saved for elderly healthcare for taxcuts for the rich, then theres the Iraq war which I disagreed with from the beginning I remember having a long a consversation with my dad over the issue and I said then it'll end up like Vietnam and Iraq was no threat to the west, saying 'I told them so' doesnt make me feel any better about the situation :)

Well, thanks to Bush's and the UN's intervention in terrorist activity you (and many others) still have the freedom to express that opinion :D Some countries don't :(

  16. Rikky

There are tens of countries around the world who have evil dictatorships and regimes much worse than Iraq, from an idealogical point of view 'free the people' cant be used as validity for the invasion thats not why we went in there anyway it was to get the WMD's the evidence of which seems to be in the republican parties imagination

How have the republican parties actions affected free speech in England:confused: Do you mean the republican party of the past,I'm only talking about the current party, freespeech in America has been erroded by the republican party, peaceful demonstrations against policy can now be considered terrorist activities and are spied on by the cia with bugging equipment ,since the patriot act people have been arrest by the fbi for calling Bush an ass,we are now more at risk from terrorists than ever because of the Iraq war,the reason for there being terrorism at all is because of our unjust policies toward palestine, wheres our ideoligy there?

I agree something had to be done about afghanistan and the taliban its the motives for doing it that that has me bothered

Some of the points presented in this thread are, um, interesting to say the least.

Right now, it's mostly Democrats bitching about the job the Republicans are doing. After the election, give it time...I guarantee it will be the other way around. It always is. It was when it went from Johnson to Nixon, Nixon2(Ford) to Carter, Carter to Reagan, Bush1 to Clinton(Billary), and Clinton(Billary) to Bush2.

As long as imperfect people try to run an imperfect country, the end result is predictable. And someone send up a flare if you really think it's ever going to change. People find whining to be a less exerting task than actually doing something about anything. :)

Now, back to my studies; I sure as hell don't want to end up in Iraq. :D

Of course not, you'd have to be a moron to vote Democrap. But then, you'd have to be an idiot to vote Reprobate. Statistically, there are a lot more idiots out there than morons.

edit: an after thought ... the only person who has truely threatened those freedoms was Bush.

I am with Lev on this . . . and it is not the first time I have heard this statement. I try to listen to all sides of an issue, not just what I want to hear. Nor do I believe everything that I read just because it reinforces my opinion, nor discount data for the opposite reason.

A practice that some souls in this thread might benifit from. :p

I also agree with the poster who said just wait a few months, and the tide of whining will shift once more . . . it always does, in pretty much any political situation. Politics is people, and people aren't perfect . . .

@Ricky - reference your statement that people have been arrested for calling Bush an ass - where did you get this information? I can't seem to find any reference to this - can you post a link or something? I'm intrigued . . .

Absolutely. I also think you have to live the life to really engage in both sides of the debate. Listening from a far-off vantage point via media speculation only serves to provide a strongly-biased opinion; one I spent years listening to and former shallow opinions from. Things are quite different once you get walking the walk :)

Totally agree, only reason I'm interested at all in American politics really is the Iraq situation,I do quite a bit of research on the subject the hardest part is sifting through the crap

I can understand also due to me living outside America that I havnt really got the right to remark on politics, especially on an american Forum, bit trollish, but this is the only forum I visit and its what people are talking about :D

Maybe arrested was the wrong word,he wasnt charged with anything,

    in this version

    http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/chronicle/archive/2004/06/27/BAG0T7CUHP1.DTL

I have seen him say on film the fbi agents as I recallsaid after he said "He thought bush was worse than binladen" they said "are you going to stop saying it?" and he said "no" and they left it was on FH\911 if I recall, looking over the guy and who he was though it does look like hes on a bit of a mission so I'm not sure what the exact truth is,I doubt I'll research it any further though.

I dont know if I'v provided enough for the statement to stand,I shouldnt have used the word arrested :)

Control of the "House" has gone to the Democrats, and 1 seat remains undecided in the Senate. If the Democats win that, then they gain control of the Senate, too.
Interesting times ahead in USA politics, I reckon. Bazza (from afar ;))

I think if you check there was a link about a Washington State School Bus driver that lost there job after "Fingering" the "Bush Limousine" right here on "Off Base" on Major Geeks.

Bush has used Fear to manipulate the world, but fear is a fickled pet
that usually turns on its owner, but in the mean time the damage to the American Image abroad is horrendous. The erosion of both Human & Legal Rights under his leadership is nothing short of criminal, but time will set that straight(already started actually Google Supreme Court docket)

Good Read for anyone is "Michael Crichton's" - "State of Fear" which gives the reader a good insight into "Political Popular Opinions"

Like another poster has said the pedulum swings both ways, I just wish it would not swing as darn far as it does.

Yeah! So, did the lesser or worse of the 2 evils win and does anyone REALLY feel good about it. All a bunch of corrupt assholes. I really hope the internet can make more qualified people known. If you can get famous for having a million pixel homepage, or placing your band on MYSpace, this should work too.

Right, I was aware of that one - but that had nothing to do with the FBI. From what Ricky stated, people (plural) have been arrested by the FBI for calling Bush names . . . I had never heard that, and I certainly imagine if it were true it would have been in the major papers since the vast majority of the media in the US is anti-Bush.

The Bus driver was fired by school authorities for acting in an inappropriate manner in front of children that were in her care.
