Ya, I even saw a piece on it on TV. rolleyes When one looks at the grand scheme of things, the energy produced by this is infinitesimal compared to the first atom bomb test where some physicists worried that the intense heat would burn up the atmosphere. At any rate, they're just doing tests ATM, the planet has a month before they start the real experiment.

I really am not liking scientists playing with nature....If scientists really want to play with their toys, they should use them to find cures for Human Diseases. Humans will destroy this planet sooner than later if they don't smarten up... :mad

That is my rant for the day rolleyes

When I read about this, it sort of reminded of the people back 1200 AD who were afraid to face the facts the we revolved around the sun and not vise-versa, or they had bets when they set off the first nuke. they were betting that they set air on fire!
oh well, we are still here duh!

There are plenty of scientists working on cures for human diseases (I proudly count myself among them), but I still believe that research for the sake of understanding this universe we all find ourselves thrust into is a worthy endeavor.

This isn't an example of scientists playing with nature, it is an example of scientists' attempt to expand mankind's understanding of nature. Without exploring this innate curiousity of humanity, we would have found ourselves forever stuck in the stone age.

    /response to rant :)

We might be the next dinosaurs if they keep trying to recreate things better left alone.

This is the most important experiment in human history thus far IMHO,if we aren't tryna answer the big questions we're just living, going through the motions until we die prisoners of ignorance.
