Will this slow down my PC's performance in any way?

Hey, I was just considering creating a new user profile for myself as this computer is shared with my family. The computer isn't top notch to begin with and I can live without a personal account, but still am curious if it would take up a huge amount of space on the hard drive or slow it down at all.

    It shouldn't slow it down.

As far as space, that depends on what's in the account.

If it's just an account with not much in the way of programs and My Documents etc, then no it won't take up much room.

Well, I’m planning on experimenting with DesktopX and allot of visual customizations to the desktop. That would be the only solid reason I want my own profile so I don't mess with everyone else’s ability to know what’s what and where it resides.

That (visualisations) may slow your PC, but the account itself won't.

Yea, I figured. Thought I mentioned that in the original post *shrugs*. Also, just for information sake, what does having multiple accounts end up having duplicates of? Is it just more than on desktop, and the "My" folders? (i.e. music, documents...etc)

*laughs* No problem, I sometimes have trouble getting across what i mean.

Basically, I'm wondering if lets say I had "Profile A" and "Profile B" on my computer. What is it that both those profiles share, and what is it that both of them have to themselves. Do they both have their own my documents folders, or is that folder shared between the two?

Even more basically, what files are shared between the two profiles, and what ones are individual to the respective profile.

Hope that makes things clear *laughs* if not, let me know.

You're welcome. And yes, it's pretty simple, a look through documents and settings reveals all.
