win 2k user accounts preferences

i'm sure there has to be a way to do this:

how do i take EVERY preference i currently have on the administrator account and transfer it to a sub account? i just want to do it once, not always be the same. so this way i don't have to set up email / shortcuts / desktop / preferences / etc...

there has to be a way to copy the settings over, how do i do it?

 

copy your shortcuts and what not to the default user account folder under documents and settings. When you make a new account, they will be used to make the user based on that default user account folder

 

pretty much what you are saying is to take my administrator account and copy it and rename it to my sub account name? isn't that a bit sloppy?

 

What about the profiles settings? Couldn't you just create a new account and then use the options to copy the administrative account to that new account he created? Probably not... might be some kind of security restriction that won't let you copy the administrative profile... just a thought though..

 

negative. I'm saying to take your current desired account configuration and copy it to the DEFAULT USER folder (yes, it really exists and that is what it's named) under the documents and settings folder. When any account is created it uses this DEFAULT FOLDER as a template.

 

ick... i have 1.5 GB of data in administrator, i really have to copy all that over if i want it all i guess, right?

 

oh wait, no if i give the sub account administrator powers and i put a link to the folder i have that has a GB in it, i should be ok right?

cause my hard drive that windows is on is only 20 GB, my second drive is 120 GB

 

all you need is the desktop.ini and the shortcuts etc.. you don't need to copy over your programs.
