Win 2k3 Server: Just wanted to share

I just gave up on my 2k3 server and are reinstalling just now.
About 2 months ago I started getting an error when rebooting the server. The O/S hang during 'Windows is shutting down' so I had to manually restart it. Just today when I was about to reinstall active directory because my dns name has expired so I had to get a new one (obviously couldn't renew it), right in the middle of finishing up everything, the server wouldn't boot. It came to 'Applying computer settings' then nothing more. I ran a couple of searches on Google but the only thing I got up was something about APC unit software together with Java and I don't even have an APC unit so stuff it, right..?

I could reach win in safe mode and stop all unnecessary services, uninstalling some hardware and such but nothing I did helped. I even disabled all integrated features on the mobo but still no go. Now, about 6 hours later I just couldn't take it no more.

The C drive is fried and a fresh start soon to be reality. That always seems to be the best solution with MS in the end, doesn't it? I'm really thinking of migrating to Linux or FreeBSD. Too bad I don't know it too well...
