   I keep getting a pop up message that "Generic Host Process for WIN32 Service". Goes on to say that it is shutting down and i need to update. Update what and where? Pardon my stupidity, please.

   Since SP2 support ended on July 13th, maybe update is trying to tell you that you need to apply SP3?
   
   brandypeppy, the link is from 2007 so must likely that would not apply because it has been fixed in almost 3 years, provided the OP has kept up the patching.
