Whenever I open a folder on my Win-7 machine (which is about 6 years old), the folder needs to index itself and runs a bar across the top of the folder before icons appear. This happens on every folder no matter the file size of the images or number of them. It can be a folder with three jpgs of 12k each. Still needs to index them. On folders with a lot of data inside this process may take up to 5 minutes, even if I just had the folder open previously. Often I need to manually reboot to get out of a crashed file or folder.

Another thing that is happening is that files won't open and I'll get the "Windows is waiting to open such-and-such" alert message. Often the file crashes and I have to go into Task Manager to shut it down. I now keep Task Manager open all the time.

Once a file or program is open it runs fine. The exception is Adobe Bridge, which is a file management software. That crashes a lot also.

I will add that all this takes place in the My Documents folder which is an separate drive and not the C drive.
