I have an HP Pavilion 8175, 96meg ram, 6.5gig hd dr, 233 proc that I am upgrading for my daughter.. I have installed Win2K where it once had Win 95. Everything seems to work ok but it is really slow booting up and at start of boot......dark screen and white letters, says Press<F1> for setup, <esc> for boot, <F2> for option ROM screen. I hit esc and slowly Win2k boots. Is this normal? Thanks,
    Jack

on a 233 with 96MB of RAM.. I'd say it will take a bit to boot up.

    kadavill. yes, removed the Cd
Kodo. That is what I thought maybe causes the slowness. Will upgrad mem to 128meg (max) should help a little. However, about the first screen where I have to choose 'boot' to finish booting up What can I do about that ? Thanx

that sounds like a BIOS thing. No installation I'm aware of produces that.

Well Kodo, it healed itself (I think) I downpowered and removed the power cord and pressed the main sw to let all power dissolve and then rebooted and no more of what had been the first screen as I noted earlier. Thanks for the feedback.
