Win 98 Defrag00205 error HELP!!

Hi everyone,
I'm brand new at this but hope someone out their in computerland can help me. I have an IBM thinkpad 600e running Win 98 sec ed. I am pretty good about running my utilities every two weeks-but when I try to defrag I get error defrag00205. I tried all the ms kb article suggested-I have run scan disk from win 98 and ms dos and found no errors, I have emptied all temporary files and the recycle bin and I have unchecked taskmon from msconfig and rebooted then emptied applog anf tried to defrag all with no success.I heve searched google for other possivle causes to no avail. Any ideas?? I'm not a very experienced computer user-what if I can't get it to run -Do u think another Defrag program might work?

 

if you can get yourself a copy of O & O Defrag. Pro then it must defrag with no problems, also is a lot faster and just generally better.......so i've found

 

Another thing you might try is to use defrag.exe from Windows Me, it is generally faster than the one which comes with Win98:

WinMe Defrag

 

Diskeeper is a good freeware program that'll do what you want as well.
