I have a real newbie question. I have had my Win 7 disk for some time, and don't remember if it is a full install or upgrade. On the disk it has the words, Upgrade, and under that "Includes Anytime upgrade"I have used this disk to re-install my system and was give the choice of Upgrade Or Full, so I assume it to be full install, know it sounds stupid, but I want to be sure as I need it for a program, (Parallel desktop 8), that requires a full install Win.7 and this does not seem to work, of course it could be something else, just trying to eliminate all problems. Thanks,
    Jim

The Windows 7 upgrade disk is just that. It upgrades your OS from Windows XP or Vista to Windows 7. It's not a full installation disk. Sorry.

I can't see that it matters. Win 7 should be functionally the same whether installed as an upgrade to an existing Windows installation or as a clean install. Also, as I understand it an upgrade disk can be used to carry out a clean install though never having done it myself I'm not sure how it verifies your right to do so. I would think that your problem is unrelated to how Win 7 was installed.

If you want to install win 7 from an upgrade cd to a machine without vista or Xp you'll first need to install vista or Xp on the machine and then install win 7 overtop as a CLEAN install. Don't upgrade the vista or xp copy.

An "Upgrade" looks for a previous Windows installation (XP, Vista etc.) if you have any of these on your existing set-up then you're good to go with a clean install.
