WIN - IE 6 with Outlook.exe problem

Been using OUTLOOK.exe from IE 6 for email.
Now, when I click on 'Read Mail' I get:

Windows cannot find 'C:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~2\Office\OUTLOOK.EXE'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again.
To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search.

I can find and start OUTLOOK using the Win Explorer - How can I fix IE 6 to point to OUTLOOK.exe correctly?

check your internet options and make sure that your default email is outlook

 

reinstall internet explorer w/outlook

try this link and go to method 3 and re install ie6. a file may be missing or corrupt that could be the reason you can no longer use outlook from ie6

Thanks for the response - I did review all of the IE settings and Outlook is set as the default.
I had a failure on the original C: drive and replaced it with a Maxtor and used the Maxtor CD to copy from the original C: to the new Maxtor.
Upon booting the new Maxtor, IE consistently prompted for a User ID and Password (like for dial up) even tho IE was set to use the LAN/FIOS connection.
I did a Win XP 'repair' using the original XP Disk and the prompting issue was corrected but I continue to get the error message when clicking on the Mail Icon from IE 6.

I was hoping someone has a bit more experience with the IE - Outlook interaction as I believe that the Outlook.exe file is in the Path specified when IE says that it cannot find it.

Where in IE (or Win XP) can I specifiy the complete Path to use to locate the Outlook.exe file?
