I now have Win ME installed in my Dell 4100. I have some sort of crash problem every other day. I do have a virus clean system (Norton) and use AdAware and Spybot regularly. I suspect Win. ME to be the underlying problem, my question is; what version of XP should I buy? I use the Internet (DSL) for various stock/financial sites and use various Microsoft and other similar applications. Should I spend the extra money for XP Profesional or is the Home version my best bet?

I think you need to look at the options each version gives you an decide is the extra cost in getting PRO over Home worth it for your needs?

personally Pro offers me more control but I do like to play around with OSes... if you dont need the extra control then Home is best.... whichever you choose they are both much more reliable than the 9x versions.

Just make sure all your software and hardware is compatable, you can run this upgrade advisor wizard before buying or installing http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/upgrading/advisor.mspx ( upgrade wizard is around 50mb tho )
