    Hi,
I went for win10 as folk said better than win7.
NO ITS NOT, ITS A NIGHTMARE
Its on same hardware, I just disconnected the win 7 64bit pro C drive SSD and connected the win 10 64bit pro SSD, same brand make etc SSD.
Installed is just Firefox, Chrome, Track IR, saitek X45 and rudders, Creative labs sound, AbeMeda catalog prog and Acronis backup, absolute basics needed.
WE SHOULDNT HAVE TO BE WORRIED ABOUT INSTALLING ANYTHING, BUT NOW WE HAVE TO BE.

I am told win 10 unlike win 7 , monitors progs even when not launched and uses memory to do so. called 'shadow script' 150 x .1Gb is 15Gb memory lost to me.

Its lost me 13% available RAM.

I install my 2nd prog and end up with two versions installed, I see 0.2Gb lost to me after reboot in Task Manager, thats viewed when prog not running immediate after reboot. so thats 0.1Gb per prog lets say.

Installed is 32GB DDR3 1600MHz Corsair Vengeance Pro . with just Photoshop installed win10 sees 25.8 available when win7 was 29.6, so 87% of what I had under win7.
25.8 less 15Gb is 10.8Gb available. THATS KILLED OFF MY PC IF SO.
MBd is maxed out with 4 x 8Gb sticks.

A simple search using my AbeMeda software saw it take 35% longer to find same name . This is with one prog installed, I have 130 or more to install.

I happened to boot with usb 5 ,20, 19 and 23 still attached, as I had just been using them in win7 to get some files for win10 build. It declares 5 and 20 as needing fixing, saying run repairs. No way am I trusting this damn OS to do that . I recall having a usb HDD killed when plugging into my xp laptop from win7.

Earlier I placed D and E partitioned 3.5" HDD into caddy and plugged it in with usb cable, it declared E as Incorrect parameters.
I reattached this to MBd and ran win7 and after CHKDSK I could see E. Considering I was accessing this drive in win7 before it saw win 10, why the heck did win10 do that. I plug in via caddy and again win10 declares incorrect parameters.
    I have 2 x 3tb and 2 x 2tb whizzies to copy data from onto new SSD's. I foresee HELL.

I FACE WIN 10 NUKING MY DATA DRIVES. I HAVE 23 USB HDD DRIVES I USE (NOT ALL AT ONCE), NEVER A PROBLEM IN WIN7, IN ONE BOOT UP IT SANK 2 OF THEM, AND ALSO SANK E DRIVE TWICE.

IT SANK A 1YR OLD one, some of them go back 10 yrs .

If I revert to win7 all will work, PC works fast, no data lossage. BUT I cant run the CAD prog and Video prog I had bought and need to run.
If I continue with win 10 then I stand to have my data destroyed. A lifetimes work nuked.

I cannot have win10 declaring drive broken when they work fine with win7., and the removal of my available memory, a 32Gb PC reduced to something from the dark ages.

I am told win 10 is fussy, obsessive, memory hogging, 35% SLOWER. I see other posts saying so as well. I have nasty words for Msoft, not repeatable here.

Just what do I do ?:(

Just FYI. You seem to be coming in a little hot (completely understandable) and I'm not here to argue this out with you. Just giving some information you might not be aware of. Also I can only go so deep on this as I'm not an expert.

Windows 10 uses more available RAM than W7 because that is what it is designed to do. RAM is not being put to any good use if it is idle and there should only be enough on standby as necessary.

Unused RAM is wasted RAM. This started with Windows 7 development and I can only assume W11 is a bit more RAM intensive than W10.

There are always different opinions on everything and I'm not here to give mine. Just Google 'Unused RAM is wasted RAM' to see.

I'm pretty sure this began with Linux builds and Windows developers apparently saw an advantage so eventually adopted it. It's also how Android phones use RAM.

This is a pretty good explanation of what's happening with your RAM. https://www.linuxatemyram.com

Wow. I have used 10 for years now. I have installed it on little dual core machines, with only 4 GB's of slow ram and it works good enough for office work. I want to make sure I understand, you had a HD with win10 already on it? or you installed hard drive then installed win10?

Also was it a fresh install or an upgrade?

The biggest problem I have had when upgrading or a fresh install is incompatible drivers. Windows and even some software developers will install the newest driver found but the newest driver isn't necessarily the best driver for that particular computer. Driver Booster has saved me a lot of time and frustration for years now. For whatever reason it always installs a working driver.
