Win11/64: Help Still Needed Opening A File Through Batch File!

Hi! I want to run a batch file associated with a file class, i.e. by right-clicking the file. However, when I do so, I get an Open With dialog box. Other options work properly, though. I can go into regedt32 and export the associated keys. What can cause this?

 

The file is what type, .txt, .bat or something else?

Ensure you use "Save As" and then selecting "all files(types)" when using a text editor to create a batch file (default is .txt otherwise) and fill out the full file name; TestBatch.bat, not TestBatch(which defaults to .txt).

From a flaky memory: Once you are working with a marked .bat file, your right-click should offer "...other" (with a follow up option to set the newly selected "other" as the default action) and/or offer run as Admin.

File name (.extension) decides what options are offered.

 

You misunderstand. The problem is that I have in a file class's context menu options that run a batch file with the file, and when I try to run it, I get the Open With dialog box.

 

So what have you not done correctly?

What's the file extension?

 

The file extension is .prg, and the entries were added by a program I created. When I right-click such a file and click an item associated with a batch file,
I get the Open With dialog box. I just tried an option that's not a batch file and got the same. I didn't realize that until just now. Again, I'm willing to export the questionable Registry keys.
