Win2K - Auto Obtain IP problems

Hey all,

This one has got me puzzled and I am hoping someone can help. I have a laptop assigned to me from work and it is win2k. I am SUPPOSED to be able to VPN in to my work from home. Here is the problem.

It will not obtain an IP Address automatically unless I drop to command prompt and type in ipconfig /renew

once I do that I am fine. So if i switch to a different wired or wireless network, I need to manually renew the IP from command line and all is good.

The problem however is that I am not ADMIN, I have IT people that log me in as admin from work and I still need to manually renew the ip every time I switch networks.

So when I am home, I am not admin, therefore I am unable to manually renew my IP.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
