either im over looking something or what im trying to do is impossible.

i have been studying up on overclocking for a few months now. i understand how it works for the most part. you either increase your fsb or htt, or your multiplyer if possible. i have the microstar ms6119 motherboard with the cypress W48S111-14 PLL. i have noticed that a majority of plls are listed as ics xxxxxx, or cyxxxxx. this is where i get lost when selecting my pll. now, there are some FSB altering programs that have the motherboard pre-configured. none of those work. for example, when i press the grab settings button or whatever it is in SoftFSB, my computer freezes. when i "change" the fsb using coolfsb it locks up my keyboard, and doesnt seem to make any changes. i am beginning to think that windows 2000 is not overclockable. oh, i almost forgot. there is nothing in my BIOS that lets me alter the fsb/multiplyer (i forget which one is supposed to be in there). microstar decided to go with some wierd plug and play bios, which is helpful in some cases, but not this one.

    Windows isnt your problem
You dont OC windows you OC hardware

It might be your technology, It's from what 1997, it's old & tired, your lucky it still boots.
My first thought is Dig a Hole a Burry it
But then I think not everyone can afford newer technology.
If thats the case you shouldnt be OCing anything.

You might be able to change some mobo jumper settings to boost your FSB

    Just Thinking
Does your system even meet the minimum requirements for Windows 2000?
    Ya might consider Windows 98

i know you dont oc your os. the software that ive tried to use to oc my fsb does not work properly on win2k, and yes my system meets the requirements. and yes it is overclockable, ive read countless posts about it being done on other sites. however, i have also read that most of the software used to oc your fsb does not work on win2k, and have tested it all, using countless settings. and it cannot be done in the system bios because microstar wanted to be different with thiers and use this plug and play bull. my system can be o/c'd, but not under this os it seems. i have been reading up on unlocking the multiplyer. once i gather enough information to feel confident about doing it ill give it a shot.

after fully reading your first post, your right, i dont have the $ to buy a new system atm, but that is going to change quite soon. i will read up on altering the jumper settings. i just wanted to see what i could do without causing damage before i asked for help. thanks man. GOOGLE = friend. its how i found this site.
