My little brother was using the computer and he said 'it started acting weird'. So he shut down the computer. he said that it would not disconnect from the internet so he shut it off while it was shutting down. (i cant get any more specific than that because i wasnt there.) Now when the computer gets turned on, it boots up fine until it loads the desktop. at this point it gives a blue screen and flashes 2 lines. the second one mentions something about an unexpected kernel. the computer will not boot in safe mode.

the computer is running Win 2000 Pro

    thanks in advance,
    DW

you can try running a repair of windows with the windows disk. other than that, you probably have to reinstall windows. This is why you avoid pulling the plug when the computer running, because you can mess up the comp royally.
