win32:adware-gen??

    hi all. i am a newbie here. have ran spybot, adaware, norton and avast. was given the info that i have this (dialer?) in system volume information folder. am unable to access the folder. any ideas? cheers.

    If it is in System Volume Information, it is in your System Restore folder. The only way to remove it is to disable system restore. Then I would reboot run your scanner (whatever was detecting it) to check to make sure it is gone/removed and then I would enable system restore.

    i tried what you suggested, but avast didnt seem to find it this time?! also ran adaware etc all to no avail. is there anyway i can gain access to the folder? its really annoying as it keeps knocking me off line. very frustrating. also strangling my bandwidth. cheers for any help!!

    If Avast did not find it then disabling system restore removed it. The only way you could physically do anything with it yourself is the same way. That is, disable system restore and go to the System Volume Information folder and locate the files and delete the problem file. You will not be able to see them unless you do step 2 of READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
