    Hi there,

I'd first like to point out that yet again this is not one of my own computers,
I am going through these steps with full permission to do so from the rightful owner in hopes of getting rid of there virus issues.

I'm having trouble getting rid of a virus that spybot S&D picked up known as Win32.Autorun.tmp

everytime we get "rid" of it it comes back one way or another.
looking for some help in getting rid of this bug, and possibly others.
but that is the only one i am aware of at this point.

You sure there is not a C:\MGlogs.zip?

I see some problems straight away but in the meantime run this so that I can collate information for a more complete fix.

    TRY this

Please click Start, Run, and enter cmd and click OK. This will open a command prompt window. Enter the below commands at the command prompt each followed by the enter key. The bold black are commands. The purple is merely informational.

cd \MGtools <-- this changes to the MGtools folder and the prompt should change to C:\MGtools>
ShowNew <-- this will try to run all another scan from MGtools. Tell me what error messages, if any, you see.
GetRunKey <-- this will try to run all one scan from MGtools. Tell me what error messages, if any, you see.

Got a C:\MGlogs.zip now? If not...

    Download OTL to your desktop.

    • Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
    • Vista and Windows 7 users Right-click OTL and choose Run as Administrator)
    • When the window appears, underneath Output at the top change it to Minimal Output.
    • Check the boxes beside LOP Check and Purity Check.
    • Click the Run Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.

When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.

Attach both of these logs into your next reply.

Did you set the below policies yourself? I assume so.

Run this to try and replace a missing file.
    Running SFC Scannow

Reboot once done and continue with the below:

Now we need to use ComboFix
    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    • If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box. Ensure you scroll down to select ALL the lines:
    Code:
    KILLALL::

    Registry::
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\policies\system]
    "DisableCAD"=-

    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe

      http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/CFScriptB-4.gif

    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below

    Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

Is it still being detected? If so I need the exact file and file path.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

Ah, I see. Okay but the logs are incomplete still so let's see if we can get a full log from MGtools with the below.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Oh and one more log so we can see what it is really finding, Run a Spybot scan and when it finishes, right click in the windows and save the log. Attach it here.

    hey guys,

chaslang>> running scans now will attach in next post.

Kestrel13!>> Can not run the src scan as i do not own a service pack 3 windows disc, many SP2 discs though :p.

Should i continue with the combofix command anyway?

Spybot is no longer picking it up, possibly due to the computer not being restarted since the last scan.

    MGLogs.zip attached

    No that is not necessary.

Reboot your PC and see if you have anymore detections with Spybot. If you do, then attach the log.

Alright after a fresh restart it was yet again a no show

which i do not quite understand as it was coming up positive after i did the initial steps in the sticky post.

only thing found was a tracking cookie ( yummy )

report attached for your viewing pleasure.

but yet again i lack understanding of what may have gotten rid of it. (if it is indeed gone).

    Just out of pure curiosity,

Does it not make it more confusing for you guys if more than one works on the same case?

doesn't bother me, just wondering how you guys work with each other so well.

Great! Then we will go to final steps.

No it is not confusing since we all follow the same basic procedures. Normally it is easy to pickup where another leaves off. The only time it can be a little bit of an issue would be coming into a thread that is very long and it could take some time to get up to speed on what has been going on.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Go back to step 6 oof the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
