My daughter went to a shoe web sire then bam a Trojan. I ran my anti virus and deleted 5 infections and now the <windowsroot>\system32\hal.dll file is missing? Can I burn that file and install it on my cup? I cant find my xp home cd (3 copy's in this house and cant find none! ) Thank you so much for any help..

Sorry but I believe that this can only be fixed by doing repair install using the install disc, there are sites that offer to fix dll errors but I personally would not even go there!!!! you need to get a hold of a bootable xp disc, one thing to check though is that your boot order is correct, so that it is booting from the HDD, as sometimes if the boot order is messed up it can throw out the exact error.
