My Avast AV detected and quarantined these viruses a few days ago - Win32:Malware-gen, Win32:Evo-gen, JS:Bocololo-S.

One was detected in the Guest account which has not been turned on in over 1 year. Some were in C:\System Volume Information\_restore.

Also, when running MGTools, after it was done scanning the DOS box said "press any key to continue". I did that, the DOS box closed but the Hijack This box never came up. And after disabling my AV program to run the tools, it was unresponsive upon reboot. There was no icon for it in the icon tray either. I tried to repair it through Add/Remove Programs and it locked up. After shutting down the computer and booting up it was still unresponsive so I tried to uninstall the program (to reinstall later) and that locked up as well. I shut down the computer again and upon booting the program was responsive and the icon was in the icon tray. I did an update and ran a full scan. The AV program and computer seem to working properly. Don't know if these things are significant.

Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. :)

I followed the instruction in the Read Me and Run section. Here are the logs generated.

Your logs are clean. What malware issues are you having?

I'm not having any real issues with malware except that my AV detected them and put them in quarantine. My computer has been operating normally before and after the malware detection. I run Spybot, CCleaner, MBAM, SpywareBlaster and Super AntiSpyware on a regular basis along with Avast AV and Comodo Firewall.

Thank you for reviewing my logs. :)

Can I just (safely) delete these from the AV quarantine? Is there anything else I should do?

On an unrelated subject - would you please recommend a decent web browser instead of IE, Firefox (have major issues with updates and browser becoming unresponsive), and Google Chrome (slow page uploading due to all the adverts)? Your advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks again for your help. :)

    That's all good.

    You are most welcome.

I will give you final cleanup instructions.

Have you tried using Pale Moon>

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:

    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    3. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    4. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    6. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    7. If you are running Win 8, Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below to flush restore points:
      • Refer to the instructions for your WIndows version in this link: Disable And Enable System Restore
      • What we want you to do is to first disable System Restore to flush restore points some of which could be infected.
      • Then we want you to Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.

    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

Malware removal from a National Chain = $149
Malware removal from MajorGeeks = $0

I have completed your final instruction list. Everything seems to be working properly. I've downloaded Pale Moon and will give it a try.

Thanks a million for all your help! :)
