Hi! I have an annoying issue with my Win7/64 laptop at my day program: it keeps giving me annoying popups. :\ Worse yet, when I close one, two more appear. How do I get rid of them?

I assume these popups are when using a browser. If that is the case, what browser is in use? What is the wording on the popups?

If it is actually in Windows 7 when a browser is closed, what security programs are on the computer?

I believe /i'm using Chrome but don't know the version. The popups are mainly about a virus on the computer, but I don't remember everything else.

what security programs are on the computer? If you suspect an infection, you need to run a scan.

Sorry, I don't have Chrome installed on any Windows computers. I only use it on my Chromebook.

I believe Avast. I need to ask my mother to subscribe to an Anti-Virus program the next time I'm at my mother's house. :)

In the meantime, download Malwarebytes. You get a free trial and scan with it.

I would not waste money on Avast. When Malwarebytes reverts to the free version in either 1 or 2 weeks, scan with it weekly and you should be okay.

I have our four Windows 7 computers protected with Malwarebytes and MS Security Essentials. I am not sure MS Security Essentials is available to download. It is however still being updated on Windows 7.

I'll Google it online now. Thanks.

You also should be using Firefox ESR to browse. It is the only browser that is still getting security updates for use on Windows 7.

Edge also is no longer receiving security updates for Windows 7.
