:confusedHi.. My Hp Pavillion p7257c has win7 home x64. No Internet. initially the LAN could not connect to ISP. The IP address defaulted to the 169.254.0.0 address. I made sure the TCP/IPv6 and TCP/IPv4 was okay and had the checkmarks checked next to the icons in the device manager. The ISP is good.

I did a restore and still nada. I then validated the memory & the hard drive are good. I used a linux boot cd to verify the LAN was indeed good and it connected. I went back to Win7 x64 and still no connection. install a win7 home x32 and the l could connect. but the problem is that I can't restore by backup files from a X64bit back to a x32bit system. I am thinking perhaps the factory default settings are corrupted for HP computer itself. I purchased a NEW Win7 Home x64 and installed it and still the same as originally. No Internet - Unidentified Network. I went into the registry and set the DHCPflsg to a value of 1... I went to the DOS prompt and did the IPConfig/ All and verified the IP was indeed the 169.254.0.0 I also did a IPCONFIG /RENEW and it would hangup/lock up the DOS command. Is there Factory Default Restore file I can Download that may take care of this problem???

I can't find any information on the HP Pavillion p7257c. Are you sure this is the correct model?
