    Hey,

I was just reading a PC mag the other day and came across this Win7 program that is kinda cool--Problem Step Recorder (Start>type in psr.exe and <enter>).

It opens a little program that will record screenshots of each step you take until you stop recording. It automatically describes each action but you can pause the recording at any time and add a comment. When done recording hit Stop and it asks to save a zip file that contains an .mht file which can be viewed in your browser.

It might come in handy if you ever need to give a step-by-step tutorial.

Sample file attached showing how to unhide files.

Yep, it's in the Troubleshooting section of God Mode under Record Steps to Reproduce a Problem. Good stuff, and potentially a big help solving issues here.

    Fantastic find sach2 ;).
Could be a godsend with difficult issues that are hard to explain by a Novice user. I am going to give it a go now so that I can familirise my self with it.

    Cheers ;)

Thanks Earthling for the heads up on it being included in God mode. I never picked up on that. :)

Hey iain, while your playing put it on your list to figure out how to "Take Ownership" or adjust security settings for a particular file/folder. I've been trying to document the steps for that for a couple of years. I always eventually get "Full Control" of the file but by the time I am done, I have no clue how I did it.:p Kidding aside, I'm definitely going to try to remember this program next time I have to take ownership of something--maybe I'll figure out where I go wrong.

Yes, that is it but i always end up clicking every button in step 4 and step 5. So it seems I am changing permissions in about three places. I never get it right the first time.

In step 4 I usually have to add my user name and give myself control and that doesn't work. Then I go to Advanced and try to give myself control but another dialog opens up and I end up just giving myself full control in every dialog and eventually it works. But it is never as simple as it sounds in the directions I find on various sites.

Next time I need to do it, I am going to record and maybe you can have a look.

Yeah that would be great ;), I think it's a great little tool, so easy to use, I also noticed that it can be run with out it being in Boss mode (admin) which is good as alot of folk don't have permission to run tools like this without it been in Boss mode, I am still figuring it out at the moment, as you can add your own text in, which is also very handy whilst trying to resolve an issue.

Thanks for the posts. I was very vaguely aware of it, but have never tried it. Thanks for the "God Mode" mention, too.
