Win7 won't boot after using Autoruns.exe to disable some items...

I used sysinternals' autoruns.exe to disable a bunch of things I didn't want running on my win7 machine (it's dual boot win7/ubuntu). Unfortunately, I got too greedy and now win7 won't boot up and reboots before the login screen is shown. The automatic "fix" attempts after reboots have not worked.

If I could just get back into autoruns.exe I am 99% sure I could find the few thigs I wasn't sure of and enable them again to get my machine booting normally... (I am pretty sure it was some entry about acpi or something hard-drive controller related.. Yep, hindsight is 20/20!) Is there any way I can do this easily or repair the damage? The less drastic the measure, the better please. Btw, the machine will not boot in safe mode either. Finally, I wonder if from my linux partition (which I am currently logged into) I could modify those autoruns.exe entries?

    Please help, thanks!

If you have made a Win 7 system repair disk or have a Win 7 installation disk you could do a system restore to a point preceding your rash actions or, if you have previously imaged your system you could restore your image. If you don't have any of those things then you may be able to download a Win 7 ISO from HERE, burn it to DVD and use it to do system restore. You cannot use it to install Windows without a valid key and it has to be the exact same version of Windows that you have presently installed.

    Earthling,
Thanks for the reply. I know it wasn't the greatest idea, but I actually use autoruns fairly frequently to get rid of things I don't want bogging my system down and never had issues until this time.. I got a little lazy and didn't research one item I disabled that I didn't know what it was and that must have been it...
Anyway, the problem is FIXED. I tried system repair, restore (to a checkpoint from before the problems), and several attempts to boot in safe mode.. Nothing worked at all and was starting to worry until I tried "last known good configuration" from the safe mode menu... I was starting to get very worried.
Thanks for the help and I hope this helps others for future reference!

I can sense your relief - that was close to disastrous. We need shocks like that sometimes to make us sit up and check out our recovery options.
