After installing Win8 CP on my main comp on a already installed secondary hard drive, boot times are really crappy.
Main system - i7 950, primary drive 10000 RPM Sata, secondary drive 7200 RPM SATA, Win 7 Ult 64 bit as primary OS on primary drive.
Win8 was installed from iso burnt to disc with no problems. First install was in Virtual Box but decided to go with a dual boot.

    Boot procedure -
Power button - at 0 sec
Monitor button - at 3 sec
(BIOS screen does not appear as in normal boot)
Monitor Power goes to Standby (blinking) - at 22 sec
Choice of OS screen - at 45 sec
Choose OS - at 0 sec
Monitor Power goes to Standby again - at 25 sec
Log-in or Metro screen - at 60 sec

Any tips on Win8 boot manager?
Is this normal times with no BIOS screen shown?

    Another tidbit of information.
If I change the default OS to Win 7, I do not see the choice of OS screen and it takes the same amount of time to get to the log in screen.
Changing back to default OS of Win 8 and the choice screen reappears.
    Go figure.
