I just Googled this just now but couldn't find what I wanted: iteither was for later versions of Windows or wasn't quite a cardfile approach. Where can I find a cardfile-like database program for Win98?

I just realized that I already asked about this while looking here, but the program didn't work on my Win98 system. :( It can be a 16-bit program, as I admit that I just want to play around with it. :)

Try grabbing a copy of MS Access 97 from the Internet Archive and build your database. In fact, Access may have a built-in template of a cardfile.

I think you'd find working in Access to be interesting.

Thank you. I believe I have the Access iso on the computer now, but I need to install it. I also have other database programs. What about card-based databases?

I just tried to install Access 97, but it wanted the CD key, and the one included was invalid. :( I got it from WinWorldPC.com.

If they could not provide you with a valid key, try the Internet Archive, as I suggested previously. There are a number of ISOs for Office97 Pro there, and most, if not all, should have valid keys.

I just tried it, but the best I got was Professional. I just want the Standard edition. :(

If I recall correctly, Access was only available in the Pro versions of Office; I do not remember ever having seen it offered otherwise.

I saw independent Pro versions of Access 97 on archive.org. I wanted a Standard version because I don't think I need the Pro version. Admittedly, I don't think I even need Access 97 at all: I could organize my game collections using it but think it would be fun to use DOS or emulated databases instead. :) I'll try to download Access 97 Pro now. :)
