Ok, my friend wants to but my 20GB hard drive device.
    It has WIN98 on it.
Wondering if i can plug it in and work from there.
I mean, can it work with the win98 on it?
He only would have one HDD(the 98 im selling).
    It's a pretty old comp.

It might work, but the odds are against it unless the hardware in his box is pretty similar to the hardware it was set up on. He'll likely also need the original Win98 CD-ROM so that Windows can install the drivers it needs to cope with whatever hardware changes it finds when it tries to start on his machine.

You could improve his chances of success by uninstalling whatever hardware is installed in your setup that your friend does not have on his system immediately before you take the drive out of your system -- especially the display adapter. When Windows tells you that the new setting will not take effect until you restart the computer, do NOT restart. Just say "no" to "Restart now?", shut down immediately, and disconnect the hard drive.

If you restart, Windows will promptly re-install all the drivers you just removed.

But be warned that you're probably proposing a copyright violation. What you're proposing is almost certainly a violation of the End-User Licence Agreement (EULA) that you agreed to by installing that software on your system. Your friend is not likely to get any support for that software from Micro$not or anyone who sympathises with that company -- though I'll grant you that the latter group may not be very large. :)

If you are really prepared to violate MacroSquash's EULA, why not reformat the drive and lend him the copy of the Windows 98 CD-ROM that created the copy on that hard drive so he can start with a fresh installation? It's no more of a copyright violation than what you're asking about.
