Win98 Printing Problems

PC running Windows 98 with all updates installed
Epson C86 printer attached via usb cable
Lexmark printer installed but only attached when the epson has problems.

When multiple pages are sent to the printer it will print a few (1-3) pages ok and then trouble starts. When the "good" printing comes to an end the print shifts halfway accross the page and wraps around to fill the left half of the page with the right half that would otherwise be off the page. Then it puts through a bunch of blank pages before carrying on with the right hand on the left, laft hand on the right style a of printing. Does ten lines or so, chuck out some more blank pages then another ten lines etc etc.

I have checked that printer driver is current, and it is. I have uninstalled the Epson, then reinstalled it and the problem still persists.

Any ideas?

Could the Lexmark be interfering with the spooling process? should i remove all printers then start again? Or am I looking at a problem with a port, if so how do i check such a thing.

 

Just wanted to let everyone know the problem has been solved. It would appear that the Lexmark and Epson couldnt agree over who was in charge of printing. So I removed both printers, reinstalled the Epson only and voila, no more problems

 

The problems back.
Multi-page Wordperfect document prints one or two pages ok and then the layout shifts. The table that fills the page, shifts half a column to the right for no apparent reason.

Any ideas?
