Probably a silly ques but I have the latest Windows Defender v1.1.1051.0, Engine v1.1.1186.0 and Sig v 1.14.1288.5.

Anyway I was doing a search yesterday and came across some files of MS Antispyware. My ques is Wind Defend is working fine and I aren't having any problems with it does this mean these older files of MS Antispyware are obselete and essentially some excess crud on my sys and thus can readily be removed?!?

Possibly just being pedantic but why have obsolete files remaining!

It probably just uses some of the same files.

You don't need to uninstall Micro$$oft AntiSpyware to install Defender.

It's only Giant AntiSpyware that must be uninstalled first.
