    Hey All!

Thank you for the past advice that everyone has offered. MG rocks!!:)

I am here asking about a virus, or what I think is one. My sister's computer is having issues. She is running XP SP2. I don't know any other specs yet. I will be going through the R&Run First, but in the mean time...

    Two issues...

    1. Does anyone know about windir.exe? When I looked it up online I found pages telling me that it was a virus/trojan. I have deleted it from the startup programs and from the registry. How should I go about removing it?

    2. I have tried accessing add/remove programs from the control panel and cannot. When I click to open it, I get an audio alert tone and it will not open. What to do now? How can I get to add/remove and how do i fix it?

Thanks in advance for any insight!

Just run all steps in the READ & RUN ME and attach the logs. Don't stop if something does not work. Just continue on and explain to us later what could and could not be done.

You're welcome. If you have any problems running any of the scans in normal boot mode, try them in safe boot mode.

Howdy! I finally had the opportunity to run the readme first. I was able to successfully able to download all the software. In normal mode the setup for each program would not run. I then tried it in safe mode and the same thing happened. In safe mode I was working from the administrator acct. Any advice? Thanks!

Yes the same advice I gave in message # 2.
You will find that ComboFix and MGtools do not run a Windows installation program/setup and you may be able to run them. The may even run properly in normal boot mode which you should try for both of them first.
