Windows 10 Feature Updates

My Windows 10 Feature update saga for 2020.

1. Installed Windows version 1909.
2. Windows version 2004 shown on update - never installed.
3. Windows version 20H2 replaced 2004 on update - never installed.
4. Windows version 20H2 deleted and replaced by -

Microsoft has now gone back 11 months to square one - pre-2004.

What is Microsoft playing at ?

 

An on-hold feature update was removed exactly the same some months ago but later came back as normal. So I will wait and see what happens over the next 2-3 weeks.

My Windows 10 Update Assistant app shows that my 1909 is due to be updated to 20H2 and would do so if I let it, but I will wait and see how the normal update progresses.

Question -
When I do decide to update my 1909 to 20H2, will 20H2 alter my customised 1909 Windows settings ?

The only way I could find to update my 1909 to 20H2 was to go to the Microsoft link - https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10
Clicking Update simply puts Windows 10 Update Assistant on your desktop. Click Update Now and the download starts.

Updating Windows 1909 to 20H2 is now up to you. Click the WUA icon on your desktop and it will ask you if you wish to update now - click Restart and the update will start or click Update Later if you wish.

It takes a very long time to download the 20H2/2004 update, it took me 5.1/2 hours, but you can keep on working while it is downloading, then you can Restart the WUA to commence the 20H2 update whenever you wish.

The actual Windows updating of my PC took just over 2 hours (they say 90 minutes or less), but it went like a dream with no problems at all - I am now on 20H2 and everything is as it was and working perfect.

 

I don't any trouble downloading the 20H2 features update, but keep getting the error code 0x80070002 when trying to install it. About ready to tell MS where to put their latest features update!!!!! I have tried a number of "fixes," like changing date/time settings, as instructed by this: [Solved] Windows Update Error 0x80070002 | Easily! - Driver Easy, but the d*mn update STILL won't work! Should I just ignore the update or keep trying to install. ANY help would be greatly appreciated!

 

Have you tried manually installing the update?
Have you run sfc & DISM?
Right click start>powershell with admin & enter:
SFC /SCANNOW
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /AnalyzeComponentStore
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

For me 20H2 installs but then a few weeks later says it is ready to install as an 'optional update' again. I have gone as far as manually installing 20H2 but it still show up as an 'optional update' every few weeks.

This is my build info and I am 100% certain that 05/27/2020 is not true.

I'm not sure what's up with this latest build. It's annoying but nothing is malfunctioning so I've just been trying to ignore it.
