Windows 10 "new Folder" Feature Not Working

Of course, I know how to create a new folder, but I'm telling you for some reason my Explorer isn't helping. Even after I searched Win Help, it only told me the same thing I've tried dozens of times. And it never says anything like "If it doesn't work you might want to try....." So, what could be the issue? I mean, when you think about it, it's actually a pretty critical feature.

The first response to problems like this, where a standard Windows action just isn't working, is to run the system file checker. Open a command prompt 'as Administrator' and type sfc scannow and hit Enter. It will find any system files that need repairing and attempt to fix them. When it cannot there are other tools we can use.

 

edit to above - type sfc /scannow, not sfc scannow. Sorry for carelessness

 

Thanks MUCHO for the replies guys! Earthling, I had already tried the sfc /scannow option with no success. However, Plodr, your article was helpful with 1 tip, but not so much on others. The only solution that I could find that worked was a bit cryptic, but at least it worked in a round about way. The mkdir cmd on my C:\ drive worked, but I had to cut/copy/paste to the separate partition where I actually wanted the new folder. I also tried creating a new Key in the Registry, but that didn't work either. Anyhoo, once I was able to create the new folder, I tried the DOS cmd to create a new folder on my preferred partition, but the Rolodex of cmds in that part of my brain is a bit dusty, if you catch my drift. So, if the name of that partition is: OFFICE DATA (yes, there's a space there), could anyone could help me with the exact syntax I'd mucho appreciado. Have a great NEW YEAR.

 

You just need to enclose the new folder name in double quotes
