Windows 10/pc Cleaning Software Questions?

First, I FINALLY upgraded to Windows 10. Had to after my laptop was infected with a virus (which will lead to my second question) and my computer tech convinced me that 10 was a much better option. (I'm still on the fence about that as I am still learning how to use it, so I will refrain from commenting on that statement.) My first question is this: is it true that Windows 10 keeps track of ALL keystrokes? I was told this by someone who reall isn't that computer savvy and, to be blunt, more than a little paranoid (this person told me to go back and re-read the novel 1984, then I would understand.).

My second question concerns what happened or better described as HOW my laptop got infected with a virus. My computer tech (who is/can be a real grouch) told me that "cleaning" software/all-in-one, like Advanced System Care, wise Care, Glary Utulities, etc. are "malware/shouldn't be trusted/caused the infection/virus in the first place." Is he right or just blowing smoke?

    Hi

If Win10 kept all keystrokes the HDD or drive would fill way too quickly! the issue of data in Win10 is a serious one and you can turn off many data collection points in Win10, some like Cortana are a positive. So in any be that PC or real life scenarios you may get data issues, if you know what your data is doing online your likely safe, I have to say most folk that moan about data issues leak like a sieve on Facebook and Twiter, so you have nothing to moan about in regards to data security.

As to 2nd question malware can come from many sources so need a full scan and review by experts BUT many All In One (AIO) scan apps are OK depends what one you get and where you download from as some are hokum and some can be malware infected, so your friend is right is some respects.

No real computer technician would make such a statement.
As DavidGP said, it depends where you download software from. Any software can be infected with malware. If you can't find it on MajorGeeks.com or download directly from the publisher's website, ask and we will located a safe download for you.

With regards to your first question, do have a look over here.

I don't want to make anyone paranoid or challenge anyone's expertise, but, technically, couldn't keystrokes be recorded and then the data sent, say every week or day, and then the collection file/files be destroyed until the next go round? Actually, I believe this is how MS does data collection with Customer Experience Improvement (as in Windows 7). The data is collected and sent every day or week, depending on what the data contains and or type of data. I don't know what Windows 10 records and so on, but I do feel that it helps to be aware and to know what can be done. Definitely, I feel certain MS (or anyone else, though it would be very difficult to achieve (but it has been done)) could record every keystroke without filling a hard drive at all hardly if they cared to and if it weren't prevented by some sort of security measure or by turning rogue services off...
