Windows 11 - Change Way To Log In (use A Pin)

Hi - I am trying to set up my windows 11 laptop so that I identify myself at switch on with a PIN. It's an easy enough task but once I get to a certain screen, it's only there for approx 10 seconds - then it vanishes into thin air. Any ideas on what's going on and how to address this?
