    Hi everyone,

When I turned on my laptop yesterday (Asus, model k72d - Windows 7 64x OS), it was unable to connect to the internet via my Atheros 9285 Wireless Network Adapter. Since it was working normally the day before, I assumed it was a problem with my provider, which happens quite often :). I continued working, since I wasn't planning on using the internet either.

Today, I still did not have a wireless connection, while my other laptop had (an acer "oldie"). I checked the list of available connections, there weren't any.
Thinking there could be a problem with one of the automatically installed updates, I decided to restore the system to an earlier setting. Didn't work. According to the device manager, I've got the latest drivers installed. After trying for several hours, I decided to restore my OS. When reinstalling Windows 7, I got to choose from several networks in my area, one of which was my own. I seemed to have gotten rid of the problem and filled in the required password. After a restart, my system booted.. and I still did not have any visible wireless networks in my area.

To me, it seems there is some problem with installed software.. Although I can't imagine what type, since my laptop is now using factory settings - the same settings it used when i bought it and it happily connected to the internet!

I could use some help here... Working with a LAN cable gets annoying when you have to sit right next to in stead of working at your desk - two floors up ;)

This might be a long shot, but have you tried manually adding the wireless network? If you open the network and sharing manager and click manage wireless networks on the left side of your screen it will take you to where the wireless networks are saved. Once there, click on add, click manually create network profile, and then fill in the information for your wireless network. Like I said it's a long shot, but it might work. I've had it happen to me before and this is how I resolved the issue.
