I noticed awesomium_process in the task manager. In the 5 years that I have had this laptop, this is the first time I have seen this process in the task manager. Some research online indicated that this process is used for playing games. However I do not and have never played games on my laptop. Should this process / program be deleted from the laptop? If so, how do I accomplish this?

    Greetings GoshenGeek.

From what I can tell the process looks fairly benign. Don't know if you found this SevenForums discussion in your searches - gives a pretty good description.

My first thought is to run services.msc, see if the name jumps out at you there - if so, you may be able to disable it within the services console. Be advised that the process is probably necessary to run in-game menus, so if you do find that you need it later you can re-enable it.

awesomium is not in the services list. Also looked at msconfig - startup - and could not find it there. Any other thoughts?

    Hey, Goshen

I've found references to this directory ==> %PROGRAMFILES%\GiftBoxPlus

Otherwise you should find it using the below:

SystemLook could NOT find the awesomium process. Strange. And the GiftBox folder does not exist on my laptop.

    Any other suggestions?

Right-click the process and click Open File Location.
    Where does it take you?

    Hey, Goshen
Let's add a "filename wildcard" to the search-
    Code:
    [b]:filefind
    *awesomium
    *awesomium process[/b]

Crap, I am really embarrassed!!! I never realized that I could at the properties of the process and see its file location. So I did this and discovered that it is part of the installation of Disconnect (http:/Disconnect.me). Have no idea why. I will contact their support to find an answer and post it here what I learn.

Thank you all for the help. This is a great forum with super helpful people.

    David
