    Hello all

    A little background,
I recently purchased a custom built computer, on arrival it had everything requested but was put together strangely (one HDD not connected, the Sata 3 SSD connected to a Sata 2 import, etc). I fiddled with it and then installed windows 7 on to the SSD (which required me to partition the drive first, was the only way it worked successfully, i'm not sure why - afterwards i combined the partitions back together with no issue).
After much fiddling and getting all the windows updates i got it to load and boot perfectly, however one issue remained throughout. At random my computer will freeze, the image on the screen and sometimes the last played sound will loop.
This happens more often when playing videos or computers, but also happens when downloading or doing nothing at all.
When i run the computer in safe mode with networking the freezes does not occur at all, and in fact the computer seems to run faster.

I have run malaware bytes, CCleaner (minimum number of programs at start up), ESET 5 full virus scan, and the windows updates are fully up to date.
I have also ran a Chkdisk on every drive with no reported errors.
Using Driver agent i double checked all my drives are fully up to date, any input is much appreciated, as i have no idea on my next step.

    Computer specs;
    Gigabyte GA-X79-UD5 Motherboard
    Intel Core i7 3930K Desktop Processor - 3.2GHz - 6 core
    Corsair Vengeance Red 16GB (4x4GB)DDR3-Quad Channel 1866MHz 1.5V Ram
Sapphire AMD Radeon HD 7870 GHZ Overclock Edition Video Card
Corsair Force Series 3 240GB SATA 3 SSD
    2xWestern Digital WD Caviar Black 3.5" 2TB SATA 6.0Gb/s
    LG BH12LS38 Internal SATA 12x Blu-Ray Rewriter

and for cooling i have multiple fans (Fully operational) and a Corsair Cooling Hydro Series H60 High Performance CPU Cooler

    Edit 1
The event logs on freezes are the only critical events i have, and simply refer to the kernel power (because i have to turn it off at the power button)

You should try SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker Or Registry Cleaners

Thanks for the input, i've run the standard registry cleaner that comes with CCleaner, with no noticeable difference (backing up the registry each time of course).
When i get home I'll try the SFC /scannow checker as well. I'll also be running a full memtest tonight (although at this point I don't think its the RAM).

Why are you not having whomever built this computer from, fixing it? If it was me, I would have shipped it right back to them and either had them fix it, or refund your money. If they can not fix it and do not refund, file a complaint with your State's Attorney office, and contact your credit card company.

Atm because i am not sure if its hardware or software, they built the computer but i installed the software.
    Since the original post;
    - I've had a freeze occur in safe mode with networking(so not the graphics driver?),
    - I ran the sfc scanner (which fixed a corrupt file, but did not stop the freezes),
    - I tried the new ccc beta driver (also has crashes) (will completely remove all drivers when i get home and reinstall again, just in case)
    - Ran a full memtest (7+ passes) with no errors evident.

I am now unsure where to even look, the crashes in safe mode make me think its not the graphics driver, the clean memtest basically rules out the RAM being faulty.
Is it software? or is it perhaps possible its the network card or motherboard?(although if its the motherboard wouldn't it also freeze on memtest?).

Forget Driver Agent and the like (including Microsoft/Device Manager update), the only way to really be sure the drivers are fully updated is by doing it manually.

SSD/SATA driver problem is quite likely, update to the latest driver from Marvell, check that you have the latest firmware installed on the SSD.

When it come to drivers (esp. motherboard/gfx drivers), try to install drivers only, many of the 'extras' and 'utilities' have issues of their own.

I see IntelĀ® Rapid Storage Technology drivers listed for this 'board, I've also read of issues, inc. BSOD's and other oddities, that were fixed by removing it.

As you've had Safe Mode freezing, it's probably down to SSD, PSU, CPU/motherboard or a build problem.

If you have any recent minidumps, copy them to your Desktop, zip and upload them.

Thanks a lot for the input Satrow, I'll do as you suggest when i get home (and try grab some mini-dumps to upload), however i hope its not the PSU, i went completely overboard on it and got .
    Corsair TX-850 V2 850W Enthusiast Series Power Supply - ATX12V v2.31 & EPS12V v2.92 - 80+ BRONZE Certified - 140mm Cooling Fan (CMPSU-850TXv2)

Which is well and truly over what i require for at least the immediate future (so i'll be annoyed if its faulty).
I do remember also wondering about the Intel rapid tech driver, I'll give it a go without.

Ok, so my computer was reading my SSD as a SCSI instead of a SATA , after looking around it seems this happens occasionally, despite it being in a SATA 3 port, and should not decrease performance. What this meant for me was that the latest corsair SSD driver couldn't find the SSD to install on. As such i had to reinstall windows again (4th time?).
Afterwards it found the SSD, and i installed the new firmware, i have only froze once since, on a failed windows update, so here's hoping it's gone for good.

If/when it crashes again I'll grab the dump file and upload.
