Windows 7 Fresh Install - Convenience Roll Up Updates Not Working

Hello, I will try to give as much detail as possible:

My SSD failed, so I bought a new one and re-installed windows. I allowed windows update to do as much updating as possible. Following this, I realised it was still not actually up to date.

I have attempted to manually install certain updates so I can then install the convenience roll up as per here: https://www.howtogeek.com/255435/ho...l-at-once-with-microsofts-convenience-rollup/

I've followed these instructions exactly; I've installed updates and restarted but the operating system is exactly the same. It also did not take very long which was unexpected for what I assumed was a very large set of updates. When I try and install kb3020369 I get a dialogue saying 'this update is not applicable to your computer'. Everything I have read when searching for solutions has said that installing that exact update should fix the problem.

I've also run the Windows Update Troubleshooter and fixed all problems it has found. When I look at what updates are installed, it does indeed say that kb3125574 (the convenience roll up) has been installed.

I'm at a point now where I am totally out of ideas; I need to get my machine properly up and running again so I can actually install the latest drivers for things and use my hardware.

Does anyone have any ideas on what to do next?

    I'm running Windows 7 Professional 64bit

I've attached a dxdiag report if it helps. Thank you

Thanks for your reply - yes I've tried those exact steps but perhaps I was not disabling windows update correctly? Every time I go to start the service again it's already running. Any tips there?

Sorry, no. I never install the Convenience rollups. I do Security only and I have updates turned off.

July updates are very bad so I haven't installed anything yet.

I also image our four Win 7 computers BEFORE I do the updates. That way, if the update breaks something, I restore the image and the updates are history.

Ah, I see. I don't 'do' convenience roll-ups either, I just thought it was best to bring my OS back up to date after doing a fresh install. Do you think it's not worth the bother

It is safe to download them updates...Just don't download drivers that are with microsoft.
