Problem: Windows 7 installation requires to load a driver.

"A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing..."

    Machine: Packard Bell EasyNote
    Model: ALP-ISIS GB
    MS MODEL: ISIG000

It seems this is a very common problem and I fail to see a working solution. I tried installing on both DVD/USB methods.

I tried looking for drivers but cannot find any on the net. (The CD for this laptop's drivers is missing). I went to the Packard Bell website and this laptop doesn't exist for them.

Anyone familiar with this problem? Is there a required modification on the Win7 installer to solve this problem? Should I just look for the drivers? What drivers am i supposed to be looking for?...and where? :mad

    Try this first
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/952951
    Look in the BIOS

If that doesn't work, start here http://www.packardbell.com/pb/en/GB/content/download
What happens if you put in your serial number?

You can also look through the folders on the ftp site
    ftp://ftp.download.packardbell.com/NOTEBOOK/

I can find nothing about what the ALP_ISIS is equivalent to. The GB, I assume means Great Britain.
All the sites I found that mention ISIG000 are non-English.

If the serial number is not recognized in the first step, I have no further ideas about drivers for the CD/DVD driver.

Thank you for the reply plodr.

I entered the bios and it has very little settings I could configure.
On IDE config, I can only set the volume's Type/LBA/PIO/DMA/SMART and 32BitData Transfer. Nothing for ATA/AHCI/RAID.

The laptop's s/n is 1051*****382 (is it safe to post the serial number?). The site, what I think, accepts 11 number digit but my laptop has 12. :confused

I'm now browsing the ftp but I think all these are for newer models.

All I can tell you is to try and enter your serial number at Packard Bell's site. If it does not work because it is too long, then I have no clue as to what to do except give up trying to install Win 7.
