Windows 7 problem again

I can't believe this. I'm am using Windows 7 (as you can see from my thread title), and I was downloading an nVidia driver (the one for GTX 280). When the file finishes downloading, Firefox tells me that I need permissions from the system administrator to save the file to the location that I told it to. I saved it to the desktop and I am the system administrator.

So naturally, I think, "Well it just messed up. Let's delete the file that Firefox made on the desktop."

I try and delete the file then the computer tells me that I need permission from the system administrator to delete it. So, the next step is to take ownership of the file using a special tweak I made. I took ownership. Same thing happens. I finally decide to go check the file permissions, and the properties box says that I'm not allowed to view or edit the file permissions. How do I get rid of this file now?

I COULD boot up a Linux CD and delete it from there, but I'd like to know how to actually fix this problem.

Lastly, my font for my icons, start menu, taskbar, everything, has been bolded for some reason. I've looked into the appearance settings but it wasn't even bolded there. It's just a problem with my account because my brother's account doesn't have this problem.

Some more info on the first problem:
My brother is an admin too and he can't delete the file either.

So calling all Vista and Windows 7 pros out there. Any tweaks out there to take off the idiot-proof-ness of these new operating systems? Any settings I should take a look at?

    Thanks all in advance.

One last screenshot. I now see that there is no owner of this file. I can click the Edit button and select a new owner, but when I click apply the computer tells me that access is denied so I can't really reset the owner. They should just have a radio button that turns off all of this file protection stuff.

EDIT: Wow I can't believe it. The file is just gone. I'm trying to download the driver again and I'll see what happens.
