Hello, recently upgraded my system hardware. I'm running windows 7 pro, now i get bsod on boot, im assuming because windows is still loading drivers for the old hardware. Now with windows xp i know a repair install would fix this issue and windows would boot again. Is there no such thing as a repair install for windows 7? I've tried multiple times using the windows repair bs that is on the windows 7 disc with no success. Do they really expect you to reinstall windows and all your software everytime you upgrade your hardware? any help here would be greatly welcome. Thanks

Yes i have a lot of data on this workstation. And a lot of practice software i really dont want to find cd keys for or transfer keys. Reformatting is going to be a huuuuuge pain, like 15-20 hours worth of data transfer and installs.

    Hi,

Does the blue screen give you any messages or error codes?

    Which hardware did you upgrade?

Motherboard, processor and ram. Basically we do this all the time for companies. Their 2 or 3 year old motherboard dies, they cant afford downtime for us to go find them the same chipset board, so we have to replace the mobo which requires proc and ram upgrades as well im sure you are aware. They have a lot of clinical software that is a real pain in the *** to re install, requiring being on the phone with the vendors for hours explaining the situation every time and it just is very time consuming and annoying. Our clients running xp, not a problem at all. New motherboard proc ram video card capture card, whatever. Pop the xp disc in and preform a repair install and presto, windows xp boots once again. Windows 7 does not have the "repair install" option, but there must be a way around this, ive been researching this problem on slow days for months now. Nobody seems to have a fix for this. Nicely done microsoft.

    *EDIT *
No i do not have the bluescreen code handy, ill copy it down next time. Basically it gets to "loading windows" with all the gay orbs floating around then will crash. Even in safe mode. Its trying to load the old chipset and old drivers. There has got to be a way to just get windows 7 to not load any hardware drivers and just boot even into safe mode, i can fix it from there. THANKS if anyone has any answers.
